Water Is Precious

In room 18 we are learning about Water, and how it is precious. I have learnt that when you put salt into water it dissolves. I really like  doing the experiments. I am learning by listening to Mrs Whyte, and doing the work she gives us. My next step is to research some things about water.

One dark stormy night, Alex was under his blanket with a torch reading. He heard loud thunder and saw bright lightning. Alex loved storms. He decided to go outside and investigate. He walked through the hallway and out the door. It was flooding. He continued to walk. He felt the bottom of his favourite orange pyjamas getting wet. He found that the pond in his backyard was bigger than usual. He jumped in and swam to the other side, avoiding his pet fish. He felt something strange pushing on his arm. It was his mum waking him up for school!

My Reading Goal

My reading goal was originally to read 100 books by the end of the year, but I've already read 56, so instead of picture and chapter books I've cut it down so that I have to read at least 20 picture books as well.  

Reflections

I read a lot this week.
I didn't do much writing this week.
My goal for next week is to do more writing. 

Math Game Yesterday

My favourite maths game that we play in class is Close Call. We are split into 2 teams. We have a board, 10 counters, a piece of paper, a pen and 1 dice that starts at 0 and goes to 9. We take turns rolling between both teams. We get a number to try round up to. When we roll the dice the number we get we get to choose on the board, either (if you got 4) 4, 40, 400 or 4000. The number we choose we write down on the piece of paper.

The Story Of A 50 Cent Coin

I woke up one morning. It was dark. I saw heaps of other coins and notes. The ground started shaking. I heard a car door open and shut. I heard a turning of keys. We started to move. We were all rustling around trying to stay lying down but we were turning corners too fast. The car stopped. I felt us being picked up. The car door opened and closed yet again. We were walking. What was happening to us? All of a sudden we stopped. The human that was holding us in this leather cage picked up something. We walked somewhere. I saw light so I jumped out as fast as I could. I fell on the ground and the human chased me. A different human looked at me oddly and continued to look around the room, I wonder what it was looking for. The human that was chasing me picked me up. It gave me to another human. That human  put me in this metal cage. There were so many coins and notes like me! They probably went through the same thing as me. One night, the metal thing opened. Not at the usual time it does. This time it was dark. A human wearing all black looked at all of us. It started picking all of us up and putting us in a big black bag. Sirens started going off. THERE WAS TWO OF THE HUMANS WEARING ALL BLACK. A human wearing blue ran in. There was a lot of yelling. The human wearing blue put metal things on the human that took us. The other human ran away. The human wearing blue used this square thing that allowed it to talk to another human. The human that I got handed to a couple days earlier came over to us and picked us up. It put us back in the metal cage. I fell out of the cage. The human didn’t notice. I ran outside and hid. When it was light again a small human picked me up. It brought me inside.  It picked up something cold. It swapped me in for it. UGH. Back where I started. I give up. I’ll just stay there then.

Inquiry Work-Ireland

This is my inquiry slideshow. We were all given different things to do. Mine was to research a country I was from (or had family from there) or one I was interested in. I did Ireland because my granddad's part of the family was Irish.

Blog Introduction

Hi!, Sorry this is a little late to post I already have 3 posts but I think I need to do an introduction.
My name's Shannon, I'm 10 years old and in year 6 (5th grade). My birthday is on the 24th of June. I have two sisters named Vicky and Alex (related by blood) and two step sisters named Tash and Sarah witch is sometimes confusing because my Mum's name is Sarah too! I have a step dad called Dave and I life with my Mum, Step Dad and sisters (not my step sisters though they're grown up). We have ALOT of animals. We have 4 cats, (Pepper, Max, Mogwaii and Salem) 2 Dogs, (Poppy and Vino) 2 fish (unnamed) and 3 turtles (Shelly, Harriet and Shelldon). The people I hang out with are Maddi, Indy, Alexis and Ashlee ( Happy Birthday by the way Ashlee). That's it! Got to pack up now to go home. Bye!

Bob-D-Bob The Dancer

Bob had always wanted to be a dancer. His dancing name would be Bob-D-Bob. People thought he was strange. He wanted to be well known and get invited to the red carpet. The thing he wanted to do the most was swim in a swimming pool up in the sky while he would be holding a cake with 6 layers, with green frosting, wearing a gas mask and holding a cup of tea and lifting up his mask to drink it. He would have his family cheering him on. Or his friends. But that was most likely not to happen.

Why We Should Get A Class Pet.

I think we should get a class pet. 

It will teach us responsibility, it will teach us how to take care of another life, how to clean and how to be kind to animals.

I would like a class pet because I have 11 pets at home and it'll make me feel at home.
